Whatever you do, Don't Join MyViralSurfer!

Well, at least not until
you have read this review. My heading was not some ploy to
get you to find out what is wrong with MyViralSurfer.
Rather, it was meant to get your attention because there are
a few things I want you to know before you join.

Tracking Service

As a tracking service I
have to admit, Craig has really pulled out all the stops.
But then again, who better to design a bulletproof tracking
service than the guy who brought you the very first Viral
Tracking service (I will get to the viral aspect of MVS
later in this review).

What I really like about
the tracking service is that there is no apparent
restrictions for free users apart from the viral bar which
cannot be turned off by free users. Then again, why would
you want to turn it off anyway as this forms part of how
this well oiled machine does what it claims to do.

Free members can create
unlimited tracking campaigns and unlike what Craig has done
with TrackThatAd, there is no ad gateway visitors, who click
on a free members' tracking link, first have to go through.
For the budget constrained, this really is a free tracking
service with more bells and whistles you will see anywhere
else.

Pro members on the other
hand get a tracking service better than anything else I have
seen. You will not only have access to the textual data free
users get, but you also get a full graphical analysis on all
of your campaigns. This makes it very easy to spot trends at
a simple glance where you might otherwise have missed it by
just looking at the textual data.

Pro members can also use
the tracking by incorporating their own domain names into
the tracking link, turn the viral bar on or off and
something which I really like is that they can even track
sales and know exactly which advertising resource resulted
in the sale... all the while creating just one campaign.

What is nice about the
sales tracking is that you can use it on almost anything
where you want to test conversion. For instance, you can see
how many opt-ins you got to your list by advertising with
company xyz as apposed to how many you got by advertising
with company abc.

It is no wonder with Craig
being the owner of TrackThatAd that I cannot fault him on
the tracking service.

Personal List Builder

I am sure by now you are
sick of hearing how important a personal list is and "The
Money Is In The List". The sad truth is, this is all true. I
can lose all my online businesses today and I will already
be in profit again by tomorrow just because I have a list.

As a free member MVS will
build your list 3 levels deep. What this means is that you
will receive the name, surname, email address, signup ip
address and date of signup from all members you refer. Then
the same happens for members they refer and the members they
refer.

These leads are sent to
you at the address you use to join MVS in such a way that
you will not be able to join with an auto-responder email to
have the leads deposited onto your auto responder. (Believe
me, I tried)

As a pro member though,
you can specify an auto responder email address and MVS will
then deposit all your leads into your auto responder. For
pro members this happens a full 20 levels deep. This is very
important and will become apparent when I get to the Viral
aspects of MVS.

Traffic Generator

The traffic MVA generates
for you comes from three sources through two ads you create
in your members area. The first ad is a text ad which is
displayed on the viral bar of all tracking links. These ads
are randomly pulled out of the database on a 1 to 1
rotational basis.

Text ads are also
displayed on more than 2000 content pages throughout the MVS
network which is getting more and more organic traffic every
day. Once again, if you go with the pro option, you get a
better deal on the ad displays.

Pro members will have a 20
to 1 rotation on all text ads. These ads can point to any
website address, whether it is an affiliate site or your
very own product sales page.

Another way MVS creates
traffic is through a technology they like to call
"Page-Behind" sites. This you really have to see to believe
it! Whenever a tracking link is followed, the visitor will
get to the site being tracked just as if he or she would
have typed in the address directly with the exception of the
viral bar at the bottom of the site being tracked.

This in itself is nothing
new as we have all seen this before. In fact Craig
introduced this concept way back when he developed
TrackThatAd. Once the visitor lands on the page or site they
followed from the tracking link, they can go about their
browsing just as they normally do. They can even click
through to another site if the site they are viewing has a
link to an external website.

"Page-Behind" kicks in the
moment the visitor tries to close his or her browser by
showing an alert and asking the visitor to view one more
offer. What I really like about this is that the offer has
already loaded completely in the background while the
visitor was visiting the site being tracked.

This "page-Behind" offer
is actually a website address you specify in your
back-office and once again, it can be any site of your
choosing, whether it be an affiliate website or your own
product sales page.

As is the case with the
text ads, "Page-Behind" sites are randomly rotated on a 1 to
1 basis for free members and a 1 to 20 rotation for pro
members.

Member Advertising
Service

The member Advertising
service comes in the shape of a shared mailer where members
can send their offers to other members of MyViralSurfer.
What is really nice about MVS is that even free members can
mail to at least 1500 random prospects every week by simply
getting mailing credits from their MVS homepage (more on
this later)

Pro members on the other
hand can mail to 1500 members in addition to the mailing
credits they have built up since their last mailing 3 times
a week. That effectively gives pro members the ability of
reaching 18,000 random prospects a month without even
building up mailing credits. Furthermore, pro members' ads
does not contain any top sponsor ads.

Pro members will also not
receive mail sent by free members. This is something I
really like because we all know paid members are more like
to buy a product as they have already proven themselves as
buyers as opposed to free members.

Downline Building

MyViralSurfer has a unique
technology whereby each member of MVS gets a customized home
page which they are also required to set as their browser's
homepage. Every 24 hours your custom home page is rebuilt
and one of the many thing you will see on your homepage is 7
links to the days recommended programs. This will
effectively be your affiliate or downline programs.

Each time a member of MVS
opens up their browser, they will see these 7 links until 24
hours has passed and their homepage is rebuilt. Once
rebuilt, it will show 7 other links for the next 24 hours
etc, etc...

Your homepage also
includes a whole array of useful utilities. For instance,
you can see the results of your 5 newest tracking campaigns
without logging into your account first, there is a jokes of
the day section, a marketing tip of the day section where
top gurus shares information which is sure to help you in
your money making efforts.

You can also add up to 60
sites you visit on a regular basis which will be displayed
in the order of sites you visit most often. As for the other
utilities you get included with your homepage, there are
just too many to list them all here, but suffice to say
Craig has really done his homework to ensure you will be
happy to set your unique MVS homepage as your start-up page
in your browser.

Something to take note off
regarding the homepage... only active homepage members will
be authorised to have their "page-Behind" sites, text ads
and downline programs displayed. You can also only earn
mailing credits by following a link from your homepage.

This is to rule out
freeloaders who think they can just join MVS for free
advertising and contribute nothing to the community. All in
all, I think this is a good feature as it ensures only
serious business people advertise to each other and the
outside world.

Viral Marketing --
What's Wrong With MyViralSurfer -- Final Thoughts

A lot of people claim they
know what Viral Marketing is and... some of them actually
do. However, Craig Haywood has just rewritten the book on
Viral Marketing. The Viral elements he has in place with MVS
is something totally out of this world.

In the members area Craig
actually makes this bold statement:

"Every member will
refer new members to MyViralSurfer, whether they want to or
not. That is just the way we built the system."

This may seem like a
mouthful till you realise what Craig has done. Craig has
implemented Viral marketing in a way that has never been
done before and while I have to admit that not every member
will get referrals if they just join MVS, never to do
anything with it again, I can certainly understand that it
is almost impossible not to make money with this system.

I don't want to give away
too much, but should you decide to get an account, do
yourself a favour and check out the affiliate tools section.
You will see things there that you will see nowhere else.

This also brings me back
to the personal list-building feature. When you realise the
extend to which Craig has implemented viral marketing in
MyViralSurfer, it becomes quite clear that reaching 20
levels of referrals below you (who all end up on your list)
is really not that far-fetched of an idea.

What's Wrong With
MyViralSurfer?

Seriously, the only
drawback I can see is that there is a lot to go through when
you first join the service. A lot of people will leave a lot
of money on the table because they will not be willing to
spend 10 minutes to get to know the system.

My Advice: Once you have
joined, be sure to read the section under the tutorials menu
on how it all fits together. You might just find yourself
drooling by the time you finish it.

I also had a bit of a hard
time signing up to a free account with Plimus (MVS pays out
commissions through Plimus), but then again, it took two
minutes out of my day and this is a once-off procedure.

Other than that I really
can't fault Craig on anything else.

Final Thoughts

MyViralSurfer is a one
stop, all-in-one solution that caters to most of the things
we as marketers need every day. Throughout the whole members
area you get a sense of quality -- a rare quality as I feel
most product owners only apply the bells and whistles to the
sales page.

It offers everything you
will need whether you are a newbie or a seasoned veteran.

While this service offers
an incredible array of excellent benefits for free members,
I would highly recommend you take them up on the
one-time-offer as chances are extremely good you will just
do it anyway later on for a higher price.

Easy Traffic ...Free Ads Everyday...

This FREE Traffic Bar is a very clever and a fun way to advertise your Business.

You can join as a FREE member and receive 1000 FREE credits

Free Traffic Bar is a thin toolbar that you add to your FireFox or Internet Explorer Browser. The toolbar has over 125 great tools to help you search the web and market online and also has a headline area where it shows a single headline from one of our members.

As you browse the web just as you do every day, the headline changes every time a new web page loads. As the headline changes, you receive free advertising credits that then enable you to show your own headline ad that will send traffic to your Website, to over thirty thousand members.

The attraction for me personally and why I will use this tool to promote now.

You DON’T have to WASTE TIME manually surfing or clicking to get credits. You will receive free traffic simply by doing what you do on the web everyday.

You can also earn free advertising credits by the browsing of others you invite to use the Free Traffic Bar * Up to 10 levels deep.

Let’s assuming you and everyone in your downline visit 50 web pages per day and you invite 2 people who invite 2 people and so on, you would earn 1.8 million ad views per year from your browsing and that of your downline.

Free Traffic Bar is also far more than just a great traffic building system. It has a back office filled with extremely useful marketing, educational and often free products and services.

Cool site builds an opt-in list for you

W T J is a new site that says it guarantees more web visitors and online advertising with very little effort or cost. So I decided to put it to the test...

My first impression was the site looks professional and clean, with an attractive look and feel. It is easy to read and understand. Joining the site was easy and painless--they do offer 2 upgrade options but they are not required to gain the benefits.

The Members Area is very well laid out and intuitive--I could figure out what to do after only a few minutes and was able to get up & running in less than 5 minutes. Inside the site, you create links and ads--the links you simply enter any URL links you use into the generator and it transforms them into "Juggernaut" links. You create ads for anything you want to promote using the Ad Generator, which is very easy to use. You can create as many links and as many ads as you like. And they are organized in a logical way--links are displayed in the order you create them but also your 5 most recent links appear on the main page for quick reference. Also, since the link generator is the tool you'll use most, it is also right at the top of the main page when you login. Very smart!

After you've created at least 1 link and 1 ad you can start to generate traffic. Just use and promote the new link instead of the original source link you had. Every time the Juggernaut link is clicked, the page loads followed by a small ad window in the lower right corner. It displays 3 ads PLUS an image with your affiliate link that goes back to the site. So if anyone clicks the image they see the site, and if they signup they become your referral. It's a great viral feature because you can build referrals without even trying to just by using the site.

Now every time the ad window displays (your links get clicked) you earn credits that get YOUR ad displayed in the ad windows when other members' links get clicked. So the more clicks, the more times your ads get displayed.

And this works virally--meaning as you make referrals into program (either by promoting it or just using it and visitors click the image on the ad window to join) you also earn ad credits on THEIR link clicks. And this works up to 5 levels deep. So you can create a massive amount of free ad views and web traffic by referring others to Juggernaut also.

I didn't get to test the full effect of a big downline yet (I just got the tool) but I can tell you the rest of the site works exactly as stated--my links got clicked, I earned credits, and my ads got displayed. The site even tracked my results so I know how many clicks and how many ad displays. That was an impressive unadvertised extra feature.

There is one more benefit and feature which might be the best of them all--downline emailing. You can email your downline with offers, promotions, or whatever you like, and here is where Juggernaut really shines. They took time to make the emailing often enough that it's valuable as a user, but no so often that it's a burden to your downline. But the best part about this feature (and actually the credit earning too) is that they use a unique dual-matrix technology that builds your downline in 2 ways. First is the typical way--you refer members, who then refer members, etc. But the 2nd matrix is a "forced matrix" that places all new members in a downline in sequential order. Without getting technical, what it means is that if you join and just stay a member (even if you don't do anything) your downline will grow automatically because new members will fill in your forced matrix. And you earn credits on them too. Now THAT's cool.

Overall I have to say I am impressed with W T J. It is simple yet powerful, and delivers on its promises. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to increase traffic and advertising.

Are Your Affiliate Commissions In Danger?

So you have finally stepped into the world of making money online. You too, like the others, have decided to start with the affiliate programs. Also, you must have heard that it’s not a big deal to make good money with affiliate marketing, provided you choose the right programs and do some strategic planning while promoting your affiliate products. So far so good.

Whether you are promoting other people’s products or promoting your own products - that doesn’t matter because after all it is nothing but your own business and your means to earn good money. So whichever be your case, I am sure you would not want to leave money on the table and invite others to steal your share of profit.

Even though the industry of affiliate marketing is pretty competitive but if you are cautious and are strategic in your marketing techniques then, it could be very profitable for you.

Take a close look at the industry, you will see that not every one who gets into affiliate marketing is successful. People who are doing well leave no room for failure and take all security measures and understand its importance.

Yes! Security is one of the key factors in affiliate marketing. If you do not adopt proper security measures, then your business will be at high risk. One of the most important way to restore security is to protect your affiliate links. Do not take them for granted. A bit of carelessness on your part in regards to affiliate links may cost you a lot of dollars.

Do you know the long complicated links that you send to your prospective customers not only look convoluted but they can create a lot of problems too! If you send such an affiliate link to your customers, then the smart ones will definitely figure out that you are promoting someone else’s product and they would rather visit the parent company. Also, if your link does not function then your customers have to type a really long URL into the browser, which will definitely put him or her off.

You could be a victim of even a worse situation. What if some devious Internet pirates steal your affiliate links and replace them with theirs. If they do that, then you get no commission at all.

Did I scare you off with all of the above possibilities? Well, that certainly wasn’t my intention. I just wanted to open your eyes and state facts that actually happen in the world of Internet. It happened with me until I came across this site , that brought a revolution to my online ventures.

So, if you are not getting the desired results out of your affiliate marketing, don’t lose hope. There’s definitely a remedy to this problem and that is this great program

Do I hear you asking, what is it and how can it help in averting any adverse situation for an affiliate marketer like me?
Be patient and read on, if you love your business.

The site is a link cloaker that protects you in the truest sense. There may be many unethical people lurking around, who might play with your affiliate links by cutting them off or replacing them with their own etc. How much effort you put in towards building your business and advertising your business, if your links are tampered with, then all your hard work will be rendered useless.

In order to avoid such a rip off, it gives you full protection and sees to it that your affiliate links never get exposed to others.

So save yourself from getting ripped. Get all the commissions to your account that you rightfully deserve. All this is made possible by this site

It is a blessing for every affiliate marketer like you and me, who wants to achieve success in their endeavor.

Is this limited to only link protection?

NO!

It does much much more than that. Let’s see what this site can do for us:

* helps us in protecting commission.
* helps in building mailing lists.
* helps in tracking statistics.
* helps in earning extra ad credits.

In short, the program allows us to create massive business leverage.
I don’t see any negative aspect associated with this program. All you have to do is join it for free, then cloak your links, promote them and see your business soaring higher and higher.

You can get all detailed information about the program from this site . There, you can find several unsolicited testimonials from various users of program. So if you want to protect your business and see your earnings grow, try the program. You have nothing to lose with it.

How To Post At Forums

Every day hundreds of thousands of people visit the online marketing forums and make postings.

Many are trying to promote their site - however their methods are so ineffective it is no wonder they complain that promotion via forums does not work for them.

But in truth you can get dozens if not hundreds of replies from a single posting - if you do it right.

Let's take a look at the various ways that people make postings, starting from the most unacceptable and ending with an entry which even the strictest forum moderator will enthusiastically approve.

Example 1:

Your post says
I've just found a really cheap web hosting company,
Fred

http://www.trickurl.com/?r=dz4
This is a blatant ad (spam) and will be removed.

Example 2:

You make a rather uninformative and vague announcement
Did you find that sales were down yesterday ?
Fred

Cheap web hosting
http://www.trickurl.com/?r=dz4
An obvious ploy to get your Url noticed.

Example 3:

You announce a useful piece of information
Important news from Google about a change to their ranking system. Read about it here _____
Fred

Cheap web hosting
http://www.trickurl.com/?r=dz4

Well now we are moving into the realms of acceptable postings, you have supplied good information BUT why would anyone want to click on that Url ?

They may just look at your signature to see who you are and what your site is about. But your post attracted them because it was about Google, why would they then be interested in cheap hosting ?

Example 4:

The question has been raised at a forum:

'What is your advice about cheap hosting and who would you recommend ?'.

Here is your response

I use this company, they are cheap and I've had no problems with them,
Fred
http://www.trickurl.com/?r=dz4

That's better in that you are (partly) answering the question. The main weakness is that your reply may seem to be biased in favour of a particular company which you happen to be clearly affiliated with.

But how do you think your reply compares with this next one ?

Example 5:

There are 3 factors to take into account with cheap hosting: a, b,c etc

These are described in further detail at my site below along with reviews of companies offering cheap hosting,

George Goodposter

The Complete Guide to Cheap Hosting Companies
www.cheap-hosting-guide.com

Bingo !

The perfect reply.

An informative posting with no hype, no ads and no affiliate links.

George knows his stuff. He has a site all about cheap hosting - just look at the domain name - and he's offering sensible advice about what to look for.

And now George can go on to dominate this niche in the forums. Apart from waiting for the opportunity for the topic to arise and make a response he can proactively announce his site to the world.

How ?

Well, if you wanted to post news of a product of your own, or a product you are affiliated with, it would rightly be deemed an ad - and unacceptable.

However his posting reads like this
Subject:

A Guide To Low Cost Web Hosting Companies

Content:

I've been searching for some time for a list of cheap web hosts and the pros and cons of using such companies. I've also noticed that many members of this forum have been asking the same question.

So I've put my findings in a guide which is free for you to visit at ....

See - no blatant promotion just an informative and welcome posting.

"OK", you say, "that's fine if your specialist area is a popular topic but my specialist niche is about 'Widget number 493' and I never see any one ask about it".

Then, I am afraid to say, making useful informative postings about general topics but adding a signature file for 'Widget number 493' is an absolute waste of time. You cannot promote it using forums.

So how could you emulate the success of George above ?

Well let's do some reverse engineering

* First, you find out what are the popular topics that people ask about at the forums.
* You then produce a resource of information: it doesn't even have to be a site with a domain name, it can be a single web page - quickly constructed but highly professional using certain techniques.
* You then make no-hype announcements at forums or search for appropriate postings where you can respond.

Ways to Increase your Alexa Rank

Here is a collection of methods you can use to boost your Alexa Rank. Most of these tips are derived from several fellow webmasters I know who claimed to have derived positive results through their experiments with the Alexa Rankings.

Some of the other tips were derived articles and sources, which I have duly referenced at the end of this post.

Do these tips work? According to some, yes they definitely do work. But do note that most of them require active effort of some sort and hence, they will work as long as long as you are consistently performing specific actions.

To increase your Alexa rank in the long run, I would highly recommended that one focus on developing quality content which attracts and maintains a large audience instead of purely focusing on artificially increasing your Alexa Rank.

Great link-worthy content will leads to an natural increase in site traffic and is an excellent way to passively increase your Alexa rank.

It is important to emphasize that you should devote most of your efforts in growing your site audience alongside integrated implementation of any of the following tips below.

Install the Alexa toolbar or Firefox’s SearchStatus extension and set your blog as your homepage. This is the most basic step.

Put up an Alexa rank widget on your website. I did this a few days ago and receive a fair amount of clicks every day. According to some, each click counts as a visit even if the toolbar is not used by the visitor.

Encourage others to use the Alexa toolbar. This includes friends, fellow webmasters as well as site visitors/blog readers. Be sure to link to Alexa’s full explanation of their toolbar and tracking system so your readers know what installing the toolbar or extension entails.

Work in an Office or own a company? Get the Alexa toolbar or SS Firefox extension installed on all computers and set your website as the homepage for all browsers. Perhaps it will be useful to note that this may work only when dynamic or different IPs are used.

Get friends to review and rate your Alexa website profile. Not entirely sure of its impact on rankings but it might help in some way.

Write or Blog about Alexa. Webmaster and bloggers love to hear about ways to increase their Alexa rank. They’ll link to you and send you targeted traffic (i.e. visitors with the toolbar already installed). This gradually has effects on your Alexa ranking.

Flaunt your URL in webmaster forums. Webmasters usually have the toolbar installed. You’ll get webmasters to visit your website and offer useful feedback. It’s also a good way to give back to the community if you have useful articles to share with others.

Write content that is related to webmasters. This can fall in the category of domaining and SEO, two fields in which most webmasters will have the Alexa toolbar installed. Promote your content on social networking websites and webmaster forums.

Use Alexa redirects on your website URL. Try this: http://redirect.alexa.com/redirect?www.allurl.blogspot.com. Replace allurl.blogspot.com with the URL for your website. Leave this redirected URL in blog comments as well as forum signatures. This redirect will count a unique IP address once a day so clicking it multiple times won’t help. There is no official proof that redirects positively benefit your Alexa Rank, so use with caution.

Post in Asian social networking websites or forums. Some webmasters have suggested that East Asian web users are big Alexa toolbar fans, judging by the presence of several Asia-based websites in the Alexa Top 500. I suggest trying this only if you have the time or capacity to do so.

Create a webmaster tools section on your website. This is a magnet for webmasters who will often revisit your website to gain access to the tools. Aaron Wall’s webpage on SEOTools is a very good example.

Get Dugg or Stumbled. This usually brings massive numbers of visitors to your website and the sheer amount will have a positive impact on your Alexa Rank. Naturally, you’ll need to develop link worthy material.

Use PayperClick Campaigns. Buying advertisements on search engines such as Google or Exact Seek will help bring in Traffic. Doubly useful when your ad is highly relevant to webmasters.

Create an Alexa category on your blog and use it to include any articles or news about Alexa. This acts as an easily accessible resource for webmasters or casual search visitors while helping you rank in the search engines.

Optimize your popular posts. Got a popular post that consistently receives traffic from the search engines? Include a widget/graph at the bottom of the post, link to your Alexa post or use Alexa redirection on your internal URLs.

Buy banners and links for traffic from webmaster forums and websites. A prominent and well displayed ad will drive lots of webmaster traffic to your website, which can significantly boost your rank.

Hire forum posters to pimp your website. Either buy signatures in webmaster forums or promote specific articles or material in your website on a regular basis. You can easily find posters for hire in Digital Point and other webmaster forums.

Pay Cybercafe owners to install the Alexa toolbar and set your website as the homepage for all their computers. This might be difficult to arrange and isn’t really a viable solution for most. I’m keeping this one in because some have suggested that it does work.

Use MySpace . This is a little shady so I don’t recommended it unless you’re really interested in artificially inflating your Alexa Rank. Use visually attractive pictures or banners and link them to your redirected Alexa URL. This will be most effective if your website has content that is actually relevant to the MySpace Crowd.

Try Alexa auto-surfs. Do they work? Maybe for brand new sites. I think they are mostly suitable for new websites with a very poor Alexa rank. Note that there be problems when you try to use auto surfs alongside contextual ads like Adsense. They aren’t also long term solutions to improving your Alexa Rank so I suggest using with caution.
Resources on Alexa Rank

Several of the tips listed above were taken from Aaron Wall’s article on Alexa Ranking. This post by Aaron will also give you some insight on Alexa’s webmaster bias.

A lower Alexa number means a greater level of traffic, and the traffic drops off logarithmically. You can fake a good Alexa score using various techniques, but if it shows your rankings in the millions then your site likely has next to no traffic.

Alexa by itself does not mean that much, but it simply provides a rough snapshot of what is going on. It can be spammed, but if a site has a ranking in the millions then it likely has little traffic.

Peter Norvig writes about Alexa Toolbar and the Problem of Experiment Design. He examines some problems with Alexa as a traffic measuring tool:

But one bias they don’t really comment on is the selection bias: the data would be good if it truly represented a random sample of internet users, but in fact it only represents those who have installed the Alexa toolbar, and that sample is not random.

The samplees must be sophisticated enough to know how to install the toolbar, and they must have some reason to want it. It turns out that the toolbar tells you things about web sites, so it is useful to people in the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) industry, so it overrepresents those people.

Google’s Matt Cutts compares his website against Ask.com and explains why his website enjoys such an impressive Alexa ranking:

One possible source of skewing in Alexa data is a bias toward webmaster-y sites. Alexa shows how popular web sites are, so it’s natural that webmasters install the Alexa toolbar.

Some do it just so that their normal day-to-day visits around the web (including their own site) are added to Alexa’s stats. The net effect is that webmaster-related sites are going to look more important to Alexa

Marketing Scoop has some tips on improving the Alexa Rank.

A very long thread on Digital Point which sees webmasters having a discussion on how Alexa Ranks can be gamed or manipulated through scripts and auto-surfs. Worth a read.

There you have it ways to boost your Alexa Rank and increase your site’s monetization potential.

Ways to Make Money from MySpace

Most of the items on this list came from several webmaster friends who earned a consistent income through the funneling of MySpace traffic to highly relevant websites with various monetization options.

Depending on your personal ethics, some of the methods on the list may not be methods that you will want to pursue. That’s perfectly fine. My aim was just to record down a list of the ways that one can possibly use to make money through MySpace.

Here is the list in full:

Bulletin-based Advertising. Mastering this is the first and most fundamental step towards making money with MySpace. Add as many friends as possible (either manually or through automated software) and learn to send out bulletins or comments which drive traffic towards your money-making sites.
Depends on how targeted or aggressive your broadcasting, these methods can be regarded by MySpace and other users as spam.

Use Affiliate programs. Direct Myspace traffic to your website which contains your affiliate links or product feeds. I suggest going for Cost Per Action programs which only require the visitor to submit his or her email address or sign up for a free account with any website.
Dating network, free X360 offers or ringtones would generally do well although some affiliate networks may not be too pleased if you primarily get all your affiliate traffic from MySpace alone. Mixing MySpace into your overall affiliate marketing strategy will be more balanced and useful.

Start a MySpace Resource site. Your aim is to make money through Adsense and other advertising by driving MySpace traffic to your site.
The main attraction of your site will be the availability of free MySpace resources such as templates, codes, graphics and survey generators etc. Note however, that many webmasters have reported poor click values for MySpace resource sites because of the low paying ads.

Paying Myspace

Create dozens of accounts everyday and sell them to webmasters which are looking to promote their website on MySpace. There is actually demand for multiple Myspace accounts in webmaster and affiliate marketing forums.

Offer Advertising Space for webmasters and businesses. This will only work if you have a large number of friends on your MySpace accounts. You can probably charge webmasters a fee for putting up a link to their website or business.
This is usually done through bulletin-style notices that go out to multiple members or mass commenting. Think of it as something similar to an email list.

Partner with independent musicians and bands to reach out to their fan base. This will allow you to get some sales for your products if they are highly relevant. I suppose that T-shirts and fashion accessories will do well when they receive personal recommendations from musicians.

Create and Sell Myspace scripts or templates. You can either set up your own website to sell these templates or sell them to MySpace Resource websites, who are always looking for new material. Keeping the price competitive is an important factor here.

Build a MySpace website around your business. For example, if you are selling shoes, you could build a MySpace page which highlights a specific section of your website (E.G. sports sneakers, vintage shoes) which would appeal to the MySpace market. This will usually get some visitors to your website and may lead to actual sales.

Start a Proxy site. Proxies are websites, which allow users to surf websites which may be banned in a specific locality. They are usually monetized by Adsense or other types of contextual based advertising.
Proxies are popular with the MySpace crowd because it allows them to bypass web filters that are set up by the schools or businesses to block Myspace websites. There are a lot of proxies out there and competition for MySpace and other internet users is quite strong.

I suggest getting into the Proxy business only if you really know how to promote your proxy effectively on both MySpace and the search engines.

Use MySpace Groups for targeted marketing. Visit the category relevant to your business and carefully drop targeted links to your website, which should contain useful content alongside affiliate programs/Adsense.

A List of MySpace-friendly Websites and Affiliate Programs
Like any other type of market, picking a highly relevant affiliate program or website and promoting it through MySpace is absolutely vital for monetary success.

The MySpace market is made up of mostly teenagers, so choosing products or websites which appeal to their interests would be very useful indeed.

Here is a list of some websites and affiliate programs which will work well with the MySpace crowd.

Humor and Entertainment websites
Social Video websites
Free music and games download sites
Wallpaper download websites
MySpace Resource websites
Free Ringtone download websites/affiliate programs
Free software/application download websites
Music related websites
Dating/Social networking websites
Online clothing/T-Shirts websites and affiliate programs
Just to point out that I’ve not included any specific MySpace scripts or tools which can automate the profile building or marketing process because there are just far too many of them out there.

Yuwie On BBC

In what could be the first example of social networking meeting e-commerce, Yuwie’s founder Korry Rogers says he will give members more than half of the site’s advertising revenue - just for logging on and inviting their friends.

“The whole goal of Yuwie is for people to get paid for what they’re doing already,” he told the BBC News website.

I want people to join because it’s a good networking site not because I’m paying them

Korry Rogers
Yuwie founder

Mr Rogers, 33, says some of Yuwie’s members are earning between £200 and £250 a month, although payments “fluctuate”.

“Yuwie users get paid every time they log on, send a message, upload a picture or invite someone to join.”

“If someone only refers three of their friends, who refer three of their friends through 10 levels, that one person will collect a percentage of advertising revenues from about 88,000 end-users, which could be about $8,800 [£4,427] per month for that person.”

Pyramid scheme

Some say this is little more than a technological version of the reviled pyramid scheme.

However, Mr Rogers, a web designer from Oklahoma, disputes this because he says he does not charge his members, unlike traditional pyramid schemes.

As soon as you start paying people to join, then you have people manipulating search engines or paying someone to view their page.

Steve Prentice
Technology analyst

He insists he does not want people to join Yuwie just to make money.

“I want people to join because it’s a good networking site not because I’m paying them.

“I just think it’s a cool idea to pay the users who are providing all the content,” he says.

New Myspace / Friendster That Pays You!

I just discovered Yuwie through my friend and I must say that this is worth a try. Join me at Yuwie and let's make money by just doing what you normally do online.

If you want to see some proof of Yuwie actually paying its members. There's Vic Davis who got a real check of $181. Plus, Yuwie just got featured in BBC News!

Yuwiè is like Friendster or MySpace but it pays you to use their site. It is not a "get rich quick" scheme but if you like socialising and you use Yuwiè for just that, you will receive some money!
Money is made on Yuwiè through advertising and Yuwiè want to give back to us and pay us for what most of us already do in Friendster or MySpace.

Yuwiè will actually pay you to:
- Blog
- Upload and share Photos
- Upload and share Videos
- Hang Out
- Refer Yuwiè to others
- Receive Visitors

You will be paid thru PayPal if you have one or thru check which will be mailed to your address.
Yuwiè calculates how much money they receive from advertisers, then they figure out how much a page view is worth to them, and then they pay members based on the number of pages views they have for that month.

HAVE FUN AND GET PAID AT THE SAME TIME!

Join now and meet some new friends and refer to your friends, its exciting to be there. Many people are actually signing up everyday. Yuwiè just started August 2007, if you're still thinking it's too late, you should know that according to Friendster they have 50 million members, Yuwiè is just starting and blowing the doors off and the ones who get in now are going to be the real winners.

After all, I used Friendster a lot but I never got paid for using it so I might as well try Yuwie.

Social Media Optimization: A New SEO Technique

Social Media Optimization is a term that has come in the limelight lately. It is a new online marketing strategy of advertising. Advertises recognize the reach of social media and want to take the full advantage of it. As per Wikipedia “the online tools and platforms that people use to share opinions, insights, experiences, and perspectives with each other. Social media can take many different forms, including text, images, audio, and video. Popular social mediums include blogs, message boards, podcasts, wikis, and blogs.”

Social media optimization is to build a community to rally around. These are all websites that can now be used as places to put out your marketing message. Spreading messages through blog posts and blog search engines also fits the bill. It is all about making something easy to spread, which, by the way, used to be called word-of-mouth.

In search media optimisation, there is an attempt to make your website visible in the social media. The basic concept of social media optimisation is to implement changes to optimize a site so that it is more easily linked to, more highly visible in social media searches on custom search engines.

There are some fundamental rules of Social media optimization.

1. To increase your link ability - Do blogs, content, aggregation etc.

2. Make tagging and bookmarking easy - include calls to action for users to tag, bookmark and Digg your stuff.

3. Help your content travel – should have diversified content to increase the mobility of content.

4. Reward inbound links - List blogs which link back to you via permalinks, trackbacks or recently linking blogs (like the Yahoo & Google blogs do).

5. Encourage the mashup - Let others use your content or tools to produce something a bit different or outside of the box with your stuff, even RSS.

6. Be a User Resource, even if it doesn’t help you - Add value and outbound links, even if it doesn’t help in the short term, it will in the long.

7. Reward helpful and valuable users - Give your contributors and readers the recognition they deserve.

8. Know how to target your audience – knowing your target audience is a very significant thing. You can’t cater to everybody’s need. You will have to be practical for who your target people are. There is always going to be a certain audience you can appeal to and others that you can't. So find out what appeals them and what can you give them.

Social media sites are also going to be the big ad revenue generating sites. Social media marketing, if done right, can have a significant impact on brand awareness and popularity. However, many companies fail to utilize this cheap (and in many cases free) method of marketing. By looking at social media ranks for companies, and comparing it with mainstream media ranks for the same companies we can see which brands are taking advantage of this new medium and also draw conclusions about the effectiveness of social media.
